March 10 2008 - Reidy’s King of Wings Weekend Filled with Bad Luck

It was a less than exciting weekend for Danny Reidy in comparison to last weekend’s Krikke Boys Shootout when he contested the King of Wings event at the Perth Motorplex in Western Australia last Friday and Saturday night.

After transferring into the feature race on the second and final night of the King of Wings event by winning the B-main, Reidy was then dogged by misfortune as he attempted to work his way forward from his 19th starting position.

“I was involved in almost everything during the feature race, and most cases it was just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, so that will teach me for not qualifying higher up in the field,” commented Reidy.

“At the completion of the feature race I finished back in 14th, and that result certainly wasn’t a fair indication of our speed throughout the feature race, so that made the final outcome pretty disappointing.”

Earlier in the second night Reidy was unable to progress forward in his heat race after starting from position seven and dropped back to finish in eighth place, and that forced him to qualify for the feature race through the B-main.

The preliminary night saw Reidy have potential podium finish in the feature race taken away from him due to a lose rocker cover that allowed oil to spray onto the header pipes and create quite a smoke show.

“We had placed a new engine in for this meeting and seeing all the smoke I didn’t want to risk anything and retired,” said the # 5 Queensland Speedway Spares supported Eagle pilot.

“At the time of drama I was inside the Top 5 and I felt had we continued on we had good enough speed for a spot on the podium.”

Reidy started the King of Wings event off by qualifying in 10th amongst the 42 car field and he then went on to finish third in his heat race. These two results earned Reidy a start in Dash B where he finished fourth and started the feature race from position 8 in the field.

Reidy will now trek over to Adelaide’s Speedway City in South Australia this Saturday night (March 15) for the running of the Australian Sprintcar Stampede, where not only will he performed his Sprintcar duties, but also compete in a Super Sedan on the same night.
