Danny Reidy was well on track to take victory in the Australian Sprintcar Masters over the weekend at Speedway City in Adelaide - South Australia only to have front end failure elude him of victory.

After starting the feature race from the second row and quickly moved into second place and took over the lead just before half race distance from Robbie Farr only to have a caution period come out shortly after and that put him back to second place. On the restart Reidy’s #5 Queensland Speedway Spares supported Eagle developed a problem in the front end and after battling for a number of laps with the problem he made contact with the outside wall and that ended his night there and then.

“To have a bolt break in the front end, which collapsed my steering, end my chance at victory is certainly a bitter pill to swallow,” admitted Reidy.

“I knew we had the pace to win and we proved that by passing eventual race winner Robbie Farr, and it’s just really disappointing to not know whether or not we could have gone on with the job.”

Up until his feature race ending front end failure, Reidy had enjoyed a strong night after he had worked his way from the rear of the field in the dash to finish in third place, and in his two heat races he placed third and second.

Reidy’s debut in the Ken Scott owned Super Sedan saw him contest only one heat race, and the disappointment of his feature race result in the Sprintcar saw him fail to contest the feature race in the Super Sedan.

The focus now for Reidy is this weekend’s annual Easter Sprintcar Trail, where he goes in as the defending champion, and is three nights in succession that starts at Avalon Raceway (Geelong, VIC) on Friday (March 21), Borderline Speedway (Mt. Gambier, SA) the following night (March 22), and the third and final night (March 23) at Premier Speedway (Warrnambool, VIC).
