March 24 2008 - Reidy Second Overall in Easter Trail Point Score |

Danny Reidy fell one spot shy of successfully defending his Easter Sprintcar Trail in Victoria last weekend by finishing second behind overall winner Robbie Farr at the completion of the three nights.
For Reidy his Easter Trail defence couldn’t have got off to a better start when he scorched to the feature race victory in the opening round on Good Friday at Avalon Raceway (Geelong VIC), the following night at Borderline Speedway (Mt. Gambier SA) he was on track for a podium finish in the feature race only to suffer universal joint failure in the closing laps and fail to finish, and at the final round held on Sunday night at Premier Speedway (Warrnambool VIC) he finished a hard charging fourth place after starting deep in the field.
Overall second in the point standings was still a pleasing result for Reidy.
“Second place isn’t too bad of a result considering we suffered a non finish at Borderline Speedway, and had we finished on the podium that night then the final point standings between Robbie [Farr] and I would have been a lot closer,” explained the 23-year-old.
“We were fast over all three nights, and I feel that if we didn’t mess up qualifying during the final round then we would have started higher than 15th in the feature race and could have finished on the podium.”
With a victory in the opening round of the Easter Trail at Avalon Raceway, Reidy considers that performance as the highlight of the weekend, closely followed by his hard charging run from the back of the field at the third and final round at Premier Speedway.
“At Avalon we had a near perfect night as we qualified on pole position for the feature race and paced the field from start to finish,” Reidy mentioned.
“The final night saw me start well down the order in the feature race, but we got it together for the feature race as I found the race line early and picked them off one by one and in the end just fell short of a spot on the podium.”
The second round of the Easter Trail saw Reidy start from the outside of the front row and he looked the goods for a podium result only to have universal joint failure on his # 5 Queensland Speedway Spares supported Eagle in the closings lap and fail to finish.
Reidy’s next event is the final night of the Australian Title that is to be held this Saturday night (March 29) at Parramatta City Raceway in NSW and he is currently 21st in the point standings.
