The run of disappointments so far in the 2008/09 season have continued for Danny Reidy. The latest disappointment came during the sixth round of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship last Saturday night at Speedway City in Adelaide, South Australia where he had a feature race transfer go begging.

While placed second in the B-main Reidy’s # 5 Desert Palms Resort supported J&J suffered driveline failure and that denied him a spot in the feature race. Much to the disappointment and frustration of the Queensland based Reidy Racing team.

A poor time trial (20th in the 32 car field) put Reidy on the back foot earlier in the night and in his two heat races he finished and where he started in fourth and third respectively.

Despite two respectable heat race results Reidy’s poor time trial came back to haunt him and forced him to line up in the last chance B-main. After starting from position six in the field Reidy had worked his way quickly up to second only to suffer a broken driveline and as a result retired from the race.

“It’s just one of those things in motorsport and a broken driveline can happen at any time, as some last a whole season and some last only a handful of race meetings,” Reidy commented. “We struggled with a poor time trial due to the problem that surfaced at Parramatta City Raceway a few weeks earlier. We worked out that it was a broken switch not the MSD box itself. Now that problem is behind us we can start posting some good results from now on.”

Reidy’s next appearance is to be at Avalon Raceway in Geelong, Victoria this Saturday night (December 6) for the fourth round of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Super Sprint Series.
