December 8 2008 -Early End to Reidy’s Avalon Raceway Feature Race Charge
In what was his first visit to Avalon Raceway in Victoria for the 2008/09 season on Saturday night Danny Reidy unfortunately suffered an early end to his feature race during the fourth round of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Super Sprint Series.
Reidy started the feature race out of position 10 after he had time trialled in fourth quickest in the 41 car field and finishing his two heat races in third and fourth respectively and he was confident about his chances of finishing on the podium.
A good start in the feature race resulted in Reidy quickly moving up to seventh place only to have his run come to an end after only a handful of laps when he was innocently involved in someone else’s spin. Contact with the spun car was severe enough to cause enough damage to his # 5 Desert Palms Resort backed J&J to put him out of the feature race running.
“I was simply was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and those things happen,” confessed Reidy. “Early on in the feature race the car felt good and I felt we could have been a shot at finishing on the podium. The track was hard to pass on due to the slick one lane race line but the car still felt good and I was confident that I could have made further progress towards a podium finish.”
For Reidy after a tough start to the 2008/09 season he is starting to find form and it shouldn’t too long before he is right up there amongst the front runners.
This Saturday night (December 13) Reidy travels up to Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway in Sydney NSW for the latest round of their track championship.
