January 5 2009 - Reidy Battles through Tough WSS Speedweek Trail

Although it wasn’t the best of Christmas / New Year periods for Danny Reidy during the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Speedweek trail that goes through the states of South Australia and Victoria and the Scott Darley 50k to Win Memorial at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway (TPCR) over the past 10 nights he is still showing that fighting spirit.

The Queenslander managed to make the Top 12 dash on two occasions during the WSS Speedweek trail, the Speedway City and Borderline Speedway rounds both in South Australia, but didn’t have any pleasing conclusions to the night in either of those feature races.

Reidy qualified for the feature race at the three South Australian tracks, Speedway City, Murray Bridge Speedway and Borderline Speedway, and the best finish he registered was a 13th place at Speedway City.

The strongest result that slipped through Reidy’s fingers took place at Borderline Speedway when he was on track to post a top five result in the feature race only to fail to record a finish. Earlier that night Reidy had qualified second in time trials and finished fourth in Dash A and that placed him out of the position seven in the 30-lap feature race but unfortunately some misfortune saw a strong result elude him.

At Avalon Raceway on December 30 Reidy failed to make the feature race via the B-main after finishing in a disappointing 10th place, while a poor time trial draw saw him qualify 40th on January 1 at Premier Speedway. As a result of that poor time trial outcome at Premier Speedway, after being one of the first cars out on the track that night, resulted in the Reidy Racing team packing up early and heading up to TPCR in Sydney NSW for the opening night of the Scott Darley 50k to Win Memorial the following night (January 2).

Friday and Saturday night (January 2 and 3) was spent at TPCR and unfortunately the tough competition and some bad luck had Reidy unable to advance out of the B-mains into the feature race field on both nights.

Reidy is now headed back up to Queensland where the WSS Championship swing is to take place with Wednesday night (January 7) at Brisbane International Speedway (BIS) for the re-run of the opening round, followed by the two night Australian Open, running in conjunction with the WSS Championship, at BIS on Friday and Saturday night (January 9 and 10). Sunday night (January 11) sees the WSS Championship head over to Charlton Raceway in Toowoomba.

Be sure to keep an eye on the driver of the # 5 NT Desert Palms Resort supported J&J this weekend at both BIS and Charlton Raceway as he continues to seek redemption in the 2008/09 season.
