Although he didn’t contest the entire World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship in the 2008/09 season; Danny Reidy has still managed to finish the final overall point standings in eighth place.

The WSS Championship concluded last weekend at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway (TPCR) and it resulted in Reidy finishing 10th in the feature race on the preliminary night and the second and final night saw him qualify for the feature race and unfortunately he finished well down the order in 16th place.

Reidy’s 10th place finish in the preliminary feature race was an encouraging result after he had started from position 16, while the final night he didn’t fare too well when he qualified for the feature race via a third place finish in the B-main and started from position 15. At the fall of the chequered flag for the 35-lap feature race distance he dropped back one place to finish in 16th.

The start of the WSS Finale weekend for Reidy saw him qualify 23rd out of 42 cars in time trials on Friday night and then he went onto score a victory in his opening heat race and then finish third in the other heat race of the night. Saturday night Reidy finished fourth in his third and final heat race. Unable to qualify directly into the feature race Reidy took his place in the B-main where he finished where he started, third, and transferred into the feature race field.

Once again, the 2008/09 season gets busy with the President’s Cup this Wednesday night (January 21) at Avalon Raceway, followed by Friday night (January 23) for the Kings Challenge at Borderline Speedway and then the Grand Annual Classic on Saturday and Sunday night (January 24 and 25) at Premier Speedway.

There is no doubt that Reidy is looking to make a good account of himself over the next week and although it has been a tough season; a return to the form that we know the Queenslander is capable of shouldn’t be too far away.
