February 9 2009 -Mechanical Woes Bring Reidy’s Australian Championship to an Early End
It certainly wasn’t the way Danny Reidy intended to end his Australian Sprintcar Championship at the Perth Motorplex last Saturday night after mechanical woes resulted in him failing to finish the feature race.
At the time of his feature race demise; Reidy was placed just outside the top 10 running after he had qualified directly into the feature race out of position 14.
Throughout the three night Australian Championship Reidy’s # 5 Desert Palms Resort supported J&J was hampered by a mystery engine miss and that is what is believed to have had led to his feature race DNF.
Despite the engine woes Reidy still managed to perform strongly during his heat races. The highlight from his heat races was his commanding victory during his third heat race on the Friday night.
“I was pleased to qualify directly into the feature race of the Australian Championship but disappointed with how things panned out as we were a lot stronger than we showed,” Reidy said. “All weekend the engine had been dogged by a miss that we tried in vain to rectify. Although the car was relatively quick; the engine would bog down exiting the corners and around a track such as the Motorplex that isn’t going to work in your favour.”
Reidy’s next appearance is set down for Bunbury City Speedway this Saturday night (February 14) and it will see the latest round of the Southern Thunder Series fought out.
