A pair of top 10 finishes during running of the King of Wings at the Perth Motorplex in Western Australia last Friday and Saturday night was a welcomed result for Danny Reidy after he managed to overcome a recent run of engine gremlins.
Reidy, driving his # 5 NT Desert Palms Resort – Alice Springs backed J&J, has battled engine dramas of late and that has hampered his results but on Friday and Saturday night during the King of Wings he managed to finish both feature races in 10th place after starting from position 14 on both occasions.
The engine problems that have affected Reidy Racing team in recent race meetings have been traced back to a faulty magneto and now that is behind them they are looking to finish the remainder of the season on a strong note.
Reidy’s finish on the second and final night could have been higher had he not backed it up early on in the feature race that saw him drop back down to the tail of the field before he fought his way back up to 10th in gallant fashion. Even in the preliminary feature race on Friday night Reidy’s top 10 result was achieved despite him suffering a broken rear shock absorber.
“It’s a major relief to finally overcome our engine dramas and now I can focus on posting some decent results before the season is out,” Reidy enthused. “Although we were still competitive despite our engine dramas the faulty magneto left us missing that edge especially around a track such as the Perth Motorplex as you certainly need to be on your game in order to run strongly there.”
This Saturday and Sunday night (February 28 and March 1) Reidy will remain in Western Australia to contest the Krikke Boys Shootout at Bunbury City Speedway.
