March 30 2009 - Successive Podium Finishes for Reidy at TPCR |

“What a damn shame that this was the final Sprintcar meeting of the season.” remarked Danny Reidy after he finished in second place during last Saturday night’s final round of the Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway (TPCR) Sprintcar Track Championship in what was his second podium finish at the Sydney track in as many weekends.
Reidy’s charge towards the latter stages of the feature race resulted in him finishing second behind winner Max Dumesny after he had started from middle of the pack out of position nine due to his fifth place finish in the A Dash.
“I just left nothing in the tank and had a ‘red hot’ go in the feature race and in the end was good enough to finish on the podium in second place,” a very pleased Reidy commented. “It’s a shame that this was the final Sprintcar race meeting of the season at TPCR as I finished third the other Saturday night, now second this Saturday night and maybe we could have gone one better if there was an additional race meeting.”
After starting from position nine in the feature race Reidy, aboard his NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort supported J&J, had only realised during the closing stages that he was a high as third.
“During the feature race the pace is just so frantic and with the lapped cars in amongst there it can sometimes be difficult to work out where you are actually positioned out on the track,” admitted Reidy. “Once I knew I was right up there I just kept driving hard and during one of the restarts towards the end of the feature race I thought I had a chance at Max [Dumesny] but he just pulled away at the final restart and I ended up in second.”
Earlier in the night, Reidy was the eighth quickest in qualifying time trials and then made the A Dash by finishing his heat race in third place.
Reidy will now take this coming weekend off before heading down to South to contest the Easter Trail over the Easter Long Weekend that starts off with Avalon Raceway (Geelong, VIC) on Good Friday (April 10), followed by Borderline Speedway (Mt. Gambier, SA) on the Saturday (April 11) and the final round at Premier Speedway (Warrnambool, VIC) on the Sunday (April 12).
