The 10th round of the Queensland based Comp Cams Sprintcar Series last Saturday night at Brisbane International Speedway was where Danny Reidy recorded his fifth feature race podium finish of the 2008/09 season.

Despite not having the best of nights, when the Reidy Racing team arrived late at the track (5.30pm) due to attempting to solve some mechanical issues with the NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort supported J&J which persisted throughout the night, a third place finish on the podium in the feature race was a great result.

“All night we were hampered by this mechanical issue and it was there at the start of the night and was still there at the end of the night and it is very frustrating not being able to rectify the problem,” commented Reidy. “All night the car would seem to bog down in the turns and we are not sure if it is either magneto or fuel related or something else. To still finish on the podium was a great result.”

Reidy’s night might have started in a rush, but he took that rush directly out onto the track and posted quick time in qualifying time trials. In his two heat races Reidy finished with a seventh and second place and it made him the second highest qualifier heading into the feature race and he started from pole position after he won the dash.

“We had a good run in qualifying and basically finished where we started in our two heat races and then won the dash and that gave us pole position for the feature race,” Reidy said. “Although we were hampered by mechanical issues we still had enough to maintain our spot at the front and had it not been for these issues we would have been a better shot at winning the deal.”

Reidy will make a return to the Brisbane International Speedway track on Saturday night, May 9 for the 11th and penultimate round of the Comp Cams Series.
