November 23 2009 - Disappointing End to WSS Opener for Reidy

A ninth place finish in the opening round of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship certainly wasn’t the start to his 09/10 season campaign that Danny Reidy had envisioned.

Last Saturday night at Brisbane International Speedway (BIS) Reidy went into the WSS Championship opener with his hopes high and he had every right to feel that way after he had finished on the podium in the lead up BIS race meeting a fortnight earlier.

After starting the feature race from position six, Reidy fell back down towards the bottom of the top 10 finishers by the completion of the 30 lap distance.

“I had my reversing lights on during the feature race,” explained Reidy. “My car was just way too tight early on and it hurt us. Towards the end of the feature race we had some good speed but by then it was a little too late.”

Reidy was disappointed with how his night had ended, especially considering the speed he had displayed earlier in the night.

“We qualified well and moved forward in both of our heat races but we just couldn’t continue that strong run in the feature race and when that happens it leaves you pretty disappointed,” Reidy commented.

The WSS Championship now moves to Toowoomba’s Charlton Raceway in QLD for round two this Saturday night (November 28) and it is where Reidy is hoping for a strong outcome to the night.

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort - Alice Springs, Baines Engines and P & M Motor Body Repairs for all their ongoing support in the 2009/10 season.
