May 3 2010 - Second for Reidy in Queensland Title:

It was almost a Queensland Sprintcar Title victory, but it simply wasn’t be as a late caution during the closing stages of the feature race spoiled Danny Reidy’s chances last weekend at Brisbane International Speedway (BIS) and he ended up in second place.

After qualifying on pole position for the Queensland Title deciding feature race by virtue of winning Dash A; Reidy paced the field for the majority of the distance only for a caution with five laps from the finish allowed second place Robbie Farr to get by him on the restart and take home the victory.

“The caution period was certainly something that I didn’t need and it was what cost me the win, but congratulations to Robbie [Farr] for taking the win,” Reidy said. “Robbie got under me on the restart and moved into the lead and he made the most of the opportunity. I guess that is one of the advantages of running in second.”

In the preliminary feature race on the Friday night Reidy ended up second after he had to successfully fend off defending Queensland Title holder James McFadden for second in the closing laps.

The weekend overall for Reidy was a consistently solid one where he started the opening night in strong fashion by qualifying third in time trials and finishing his two heat races in fifth and third place from the back of the field. On the second night Reidy finished the third and final heat race in sixth place and that earned him enough points to be the second highest point scorer heading into Dash A. In the latter event Reidy started alongside Robbie Farr on the outside of the front row and he was able to get the jump and claim the win to earn the right to start the feature race from pole position.

This Saturday night (May 8) at BIS Reidy will have his final hit out, where he is going to shakedown a new engine, before the Australian Sprintcar Title up at Darwin’s Northline Speedway in the Northern Territory from May 27 through to 29.

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, Titan Plant Hire, Baines Engines, Gonzo Racing Pipes, Camden Neon Signs and P&M Motor Body Repairs for all their support throughout the 2009/10 season.
